Each April, Patriots’ Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the founding principles of our nation—principles grounded in courage, sacrifice, and a commitment to the greater good. Observed throughout Maine and Massachusetts, the day commemorates the opening battles of the American Revolution and honors those who answered the call to serve their communities and their country.
These same principles—service, duty, and devotion to country—are deeply aligned with the values upheld within Freemasonry and the Scottish Rite.
A Shared Foundation of Principles
Freemasonry has long emphasized the importance of personal responsibility, moral integrity, and civic virtue. While it is not a political organization, it encourages its members to be informed, engaged citizens committed to the well-being of their communities.
Patriots’ Day serves as a reminder of what it means to act with purpose and conviction. The men who stood at Lexington and Concord were guided by enduring principles—principles that remain relevant to Freemasons today.
